Malcolm’s Road runs out to Provo’s wild west coast and the Northwest Point Marine National Park. The reward at the end is a beach you may have to yourself, with clear water and reef just offshore.
The drive
Long, unpaved and famously rough. Allow plenty of time, keep the speed down, and treat it as part of the day rather than the way to it.
When to go
Calm days are best for snorkelling. Set off in the morning so you are not driving back in the dark.
What to bring
Snorkel gear, lunch, water and shade. There is nothing out here to buy.
Good to know
It is a marine park, so look, don’t touch, and leave the shells where they are.
